The Canaan Mountain Herald offers a business directory that is free to any local business to use. There are many inquiries into local businesses and services. Most get posted on Facebook, only to get lost in the never-ending feed. In addition to that, comments on a public forum can sometimes turn negative and nonconstructive, which helps neither the business nor the customer. CMH hopes to provide an exhaustive centralized directory that allows residents and visitors alike to review local businesses and services and rate their experiences with an eye toward growth.
This directory allows business owners to post all pertinent information regarding their business including hours, phone number, website, descriptions, locations, and more. The directory also conveniently integrates a Google map function for those who are unfamiliar with the location of a business or the area in general. It offers various search methods, breaking businesses into categories (hardware, entertainment, construction, restaurants, etc.), the ability to search by company name, or to simply browse through the entire list.
We hope to provide an outlet for constructive feedback for our local businesses. The CMH directory allows for anonymous comments and star ratings. This is different than a public forum, allowing us to filter profanity and slurs, while maintaining the positive elements of public feedback.
Our goal with the directory is to offer support to our local businesses and growing economy. Shining a positive light and fostering the growth of our community is what we are about at the CMH. We hope that you will see some value in listing your business on our website. We will work to spread the word and help you cultivate a positive image for your services and our community in general. Thank you!
