Bureau of Land Management Seeks Public Help in Identifying Water Canyon Vandals

The Bureau of Land Management is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of those responsible for vandalizing restroom facilities at the Water Canyon trailhead near Hildale, Utah. The damage was found on November 4, 2017.

The vandalism includes damage to a fence, the restroom door and the toilet, which was set on fire. The facilities are new, having just recently been completed to facilitate higher rates of visitation to the area.

According to St George Field Office Manager Keith Rigtrup, “This newly constructed restroom facility and trailhead were installed to accommodate the increasing recreational use in the area. Because of this damage, the restroom facility is now unusable and will require substantial repairs. We take this loss seriously as it is a cost to all taxpayers.”

If you have information regarding the vandalism, you can contact BLM Law Enforcement at (800) 227-7286. Callers can remain anonymous.
